How to Use iKnowU

The IKnowU keyboard is the easiest and most accurate way to enter information on your mobile device and it even keeps all your devices synchronized with each other so new words or new styles of writing are captured and transferred to all your devices without any action on your part.

IKnowU was the first touch-screen prediction technology available. Its patented technology has been refined over the past decade to be as easy to use as possible while being most flexible and intuitive as well.

IKnowU begins analyzing as soon as you load it. Type a character on the familiar QWERTY keyboard and you will see certain keys lighting up.

You can see that the root of "head" has been entered for you and endings such as "heads" and "heading" now appear as well as phrases like "head of".

Instead if you did want the word "head" instead, then you quickly tap the word "head…" at the top and it will enter the word head with a space for you and then start predicting phrases which start with the word "head".

This means that if you are about to type one of the green letters you can stop because IKnowU has already predicted your word and it's at the top waiting to be selected.

At the top of the keyboard is a list of WordChunks™. They are the most likely words and phrases that you are probably typing based on what you have already typed and what you have typed previously in the past. As you enter more and more information the IKnowU keyboard learns your words and phrases as well as your style of entry and adapts making it more and more accurate as you use it. The font size of the predictions can be changed in the Settings menu.

Consider the entry of "he", you can see the most likely things have been predicted at the top of the keyboard. And you can also see the choices have an ellipsis "…" following them. This indicates that it is a WorkChunk™ and there are many more choices underneath that one displayed choice. If you were looking for "heading" instead of "head" all you need to do is press the "head" choice and hold down.

Learning

As you type the IKnowU keyboard will learn the words you are entering and provide back to you later on when it seems like you are typing them again.

You can see that it detects that the subject you are talking about has not changed and displays the learned word for you to select and enter with a quick tap.

There is even a setting which allows you to decide when a word should be added to the dictionary. When a new word is detected it will ask you if you want to add it. Just click on the word prediction bar to add it or ignore it and keep typing if you prefer not to learn it.

If you have setup your connection to the IKnowU Cloud – learned words as well as typing styles will be synchronized on all your various devices that have the IKnowU keyboard so your words and phrases will always be with you.

Gesturing

IKnowU also has a patented method of rapidly entering WordChunks™ that is perfectly suited to mobile phones and single finger/thumb typing. If you enter a letter and then press and hold on the space bar the prediction will shift into Gesturing™ mode.

Then if you make a small moment of your finger or thumb in a natural arc (and it will adapt based on whether you are right handed or left handed) you can select a new WordChuck™ like "Give…". When you do you can either let go and the word will be entered along with a space for you or it will show you more choices both words and phrases.

When you are over it the word or phrase will be highlighted in green and you can select it and release. This will type in the full phrase "Give me a call" for you with a space. Pressing the period key will remove the space and insert the punctuation for you without any effort on your part. If you make a mistake in your gestures you can slide over to the "BACK" key and it will take you to the previous level of predictions. By chaining together a set of gestures you can be entering full paragraphs in the same time it used to take you to enter a few words.

Long Press

Each key on the IKnowU keyboard has a primary letter in white and then a main alternate letter in yellow. To select the yellow letter just hold on the key for a bit longer and it will select that default key (the time you need to hold for is changeable in the Settings Menu). For a list of other alternatives just hold down and keep it held down. Slide your finger over to the preferred character and let go and it will be entered for you. This can be handy when you are entering words from another language or inserting copyright symbols.

Multiple Keyboards

The IKnowU keyboard supports a large number of keyboards to allow a wide variety of entry opportunities. These include a numeric keypad, cursor control keypad which includes cut, copy and paste, several symbol keypads, a smiley face keypad and one for foreign characters.

All you need to do is hold down on the 123 key and then slide your finger to the keypad you need.

In-lining

The IKnowU keyboard also supports a powerful feature which allows you to quickly correct text you have already written. Just touch on the word which was incorrect or use the cursor keys to move to the point where the word went wrong and it will begin re-predicting words for you based on the context. Selecting a word will delete the incorrect one and replace it with the prediction you preferred.
